Some tips when having a part time cleaner

Home cleaning is such a chore, especially when you have so much work to do outside of your home. With the increasing cost of part time cleaners in Singapore, it is good to have the cleaners clean efficiently for you. 

In this article, we introduce some tips that you can implement or share with your home cleaners. That will make cleaning efficient and make your money worth it. 

Declutter before the cleaners arrive

You don’t want the cleaner’s paid time to be spent on organizing your household items and making your house neat when you could have already done so!

Being neat also makes it easier for the cleaner to clean areas that are hard to reach. Having a neat house also benefits you emotionally by helping you achieve a cluttered-free mind. 

Do your dishes

After eating, wash and clean your dishes. Don’t leave it to the part time cleaners. Get them to do other more intensive cleaning such as cleaning your blinds, mopping the floor thoroughly. 

Clean the entire house

You may want the cleaner to clean a few rooms when they come over. That is not efficient at all. Get the part time cleaner to clean your entire house in one session. Inform them that you want them to do one task across the entire house before moving on to the next task. 

For example, it is more efficient to vacuum the entire house and then to mop the entire house. 

It may seem obvious, but some cleaners may want to do less by doing 1 room at a time. 

It is good to just keep this in mind when you monitor the cleaners.

Provide the cleaner with a bucket

Placing all the cleaning solutions and tools in one bucket will be it extremely easy for the cleaner. 

If you are providing the cleaning equipment to the cleaner, you may need to note this. 

If the cleaner is bringing his or her own cleaning equipment, then most probably he or she would have prepared a bucket for easy carry. 

Efficient cleaning items and solutions

Check whether the cleaning equipment are reasonably good for efficient cleaning. 

For cloths, you can opt for microfiber cloths that will speed up the cleaning process. 

Definitely, a mop with auto rinsing function will be more efficient that wiping with an ordinary mop or a mopping with bare hands and a piece of cloth. 

Spray to disinfect

Get your cleaner to do a full, simple and fast disinfection of your house. 

That way, you will receive a cleaner house when the work is done. 

You can get the cleaner to quickly wipe down these surfaces: 

• Appliances
• Cabinets
• Doors and doorknobs
• Switches
• TV remotes
• Telephones
• Countertops

Concoct a disinfection solution by mixing ½ a cup of white vinegar and 1 cup of water. Place the solution in a spray bottle to expedite the disinfecting process by the cleaner.

Start from the top

No matter where you are cleaning, you should start from the top down. This will allow the dust and dirt to fall down to lower levels when you clean. And finally, you clean the final layer of dust at the bottom. 

Make a checklist

Design a cleaning checklist. This will make it easy for the cleaner to follow and check the pointers off while she cleans, making work fast and easy for her.
